The HURH (under the LIFE Smart Hospital Project), has joined the Biotecyl Health Cluster, with other four other large hospitals of Castilla y Leon Region. The cluster aims to become a reference for the development of all health activity. To this end, they aim to connect professional researchers, hospital centers and companies in the health sector. The participation of these five centers has as main request the development and creation of innovation units, which will begin to be implemented in 2017.
The Cluster already has 21 partners, among which are small and large companies, SMEs and other public centers. According to Mr. José Luis Barredo, the cluster is responsible for connecting all parts of the health process, in order to “obtain cheaper raw materials, improvements in language training or accounting for health workers or other activities related to aspects of Office or hygiene”.
The Regional Minister of Health, Mr. Antonio María Sáez Aguado, emphasizes that it is “especially important to connect the thousands of researchers who have relevant projects with the 20 biotechnology companies in Castilla y León, which are the ones that allow the projects to be pushed forward.”
In its commitment to innovation, environment and health care, HURH has been welcoming the LIFE Smart Hospital Project, coordinated by CARTIF to become the first sustainable hospital in Spain. The project will allow a saving of more than 30% of energy, reduce its carbon footprint by 10%, its water footprint by 30% and increase waste correctly managed up to 95%.
