Regional Health Management – Río Hortega Hospital

HURH is a public hospital, integrated within the Assistance Network of the Regional Health Management of Castilla y León (SACYL) and, as such, is responsible for the specialized attention of citizens living in the West Health Area in Valladolid (256.000 people). For certain services, the scope of care extends to the whole province of Valladolid and Segovia and in some cases the entire Region.

The HURH accounts, among other services, 600 beds installed, 17 operating rooms, 2 minor surgery rooms, 6 maternity wards, with more than 2500 employees. Annually, the HURH attends about 415000 consultations, 23500 hospitalizations, 108000 urgencies and 155000 hospital stays.

As a University Hospital, HURH collaborates with the University of Valladolid in training students in health sciences, integrating the teaching structure with proper care through 25 instructional units that allow the Hospital to train 128 new specialists.

Our commitment to the future has led us to develop a program of quality improvement with permanent lines aimed at increasing safety in healthcare processes and increasing efficiency. In this sense we promote research lines that allow us to be at the forefront of scientific advances.

With commitment to improving the citizen’s health, it should be noted that the HURH is completely integrated with the Primary Care Management of West Valladolid, which allows on the development of promotion and prevention health programs and to establish communication and action lines together with the health centers.

HURH is a center that incorporates the most advanced medical technology and social commitment through collaboration with various entities (Vicente Ferrer Foundation, Red Cross, Spanish Association Against Cancer and other, Foundations and children’s organizations etc.)
